Radon gas

Radon gas is a radioactive, naturally-occurring gas, which can build up to high concentrations indoors, posing a serious risk to health. It is believed that radon is the second-largest cause of lung cancer.

Exposure tends to be high in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset because of the underlying geology. Locations in Wales, the Cotswolds and the Pennines may also be prone to radon gas.

A local authority search will determine whether there is a risk of radon gas in the property you are purchasing.
