Pre-completion searches

Pre-Completion Searches are checks that need to be carried out on behalf of the buyer and the mortgage provider by the conveyancing solicitor before the sale becomes legally binding.

This is a last minute check that the purchaser has not been declared bankrupt in the interim, and also to ensure that nothing has happened since exchange that could affect ownership of the property.

It is a useful safety guard for a buyer.
