On notice

When a part-built or off-plan property is sold, there will be a clause in the contract stating the property will be completed on notice as the developer cannot guarantee when the property will be structurally finished. This means that when the property is structurally complete, the developer's solicitor serves the 'notice' and completion has to take place within the timescale set by the contract (which is usually 7 or 14 days).
