Licensed conveyancer

A licensed conveyancer is approved by the (aptly named) Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) to assist buyers and sellers in their property transactions.

They specifically deal with all the legal matters, paperwork and queries (searches) involved in the transaction, and advise clients on the information found in searches and other enquiries, and possible financial implications that might arise.

In certain circumstances, the conveyancers can act on behalf of the vendor and purchaser in the same transaction, but this is rare (and possibly unwise) because of conflicts of interest.
